dc.description.abstractΘαμμένοι σε τόνους χώματος στο υπόγειο του σπιτιού, οι γνωστοί μας χαρακτήρες από τα δύο προηγούμενα μέρη της τριλογίας ξαναβρίσκονται, άλλοι έχοντας φτάσει εκεί από αιφνίδιο θάνατο και άλλοι μετά από πολύχρονη ασθένεια. Η απώλεια της μνήμης είναι το πιο τραγικό και συνάμα κωμικό βίωμα του θανάτου τους: προσπαθούν ν’ αποτελειώσουν όσα άφησαν μισά στη ζωή τους, μα είναι αδύνατο, προσπαθούν να συναντήσουν ο ένας τον άλλον, μα δεν αναγνωρίζονται, ξεκινούν να λύνουν παλιές διαφορές τους και στο δρόμο χάνουν το στόχο τους. Βάρος και ελαφρότητα, δράμα και χιούμορ εναλλάσσονται ακατάπαυστα σ’ αυτό το γεμάτο παραδοξότητες έργο. Οι νεκροί «ζουν» σ’ έναν κόσμο όπου φόβοι, ενοχές και ταμπού έχουν αντικατασταθεί από «προθέσεις συναισθημάτων» χωρίς αντίκρισμα. Η προωθημένη στα άκρα κίνηση που χαρακτήριζε το Le Jardin και το Le Salon, εδώ αποδίδεται ακόμα πιο ακραία πλαστική. Μέσα από αστείες καταστάσεις διαμορφώνεται η εικόνα μιας μετέπειτα ζωής, που, αν και εκτυλίσσεται μέσα στο χώμα, βασανίζεται από μιαν αβάσταχτη ελαφρότητα.
